Dr Todd Landman

Background

Todd Landman grew up in Pennsylvania and studied at the University of Pennsylvania (BA Political Science 1988), Georgetown University (MA Latin American Studies 1990), University of Colorado at Boulder (MA Political Science 1993), and the University of Essex (PhD Political Science 2000).

Political Scientist

He teaches in the Department of Government at the University of Essex, where he is a Professor of Government, Director of the Centre for Democratic Governance, and Graduate Director, PhD. He is an author of numerous books, articles, reports, review essays, book notes, and other publications. He reviews manuscripts for numerous peer-reviewed journals and is on the editorial board of Human Rights and Human Welfare and The Journal of Latin American Studies.

International Consultant

He carries out numerous international consultancy assignments for inter-governmental organisations, governments, and international non-governmental organisations in the areas of development, democracy, and human rights. He has travelled to over 30 countries around the world.

Public Speaker

He appears in numerous public and private fora around the world as a public speaker across a range of topics related to development, democracy, and human rights, as well as the systematic methods that underpin their analysis. He also communicates his ideas through alternative means of communication that adopt the principles and theories of magic, mentalism, and mystery entertainment.
